St. Anthony’s will celebrate a special “Blue Mass” to mark the 25th anniversary of 9-11 on Friday, September 11, 2026, 8:00 a.m. The tradition of celebrating a Blue Mass honoring firefighters and police officers began on September 29th, 1934, by Rev. Thomas Dade who founded the Catholic Police and Fireman’s Society. The first Mass was held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., and coincided with the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of police officers and military.
All are welcome to come to pray and honor our nation’s firefighters, police, and emergency medical teams who gave their lives to save others that terrible day, and who today risk their lives every day for our safety. Representatives from the fire, police and EMS departments will participate. Programs will be provided.
