Marriage

Marriage

Marriage is a sacred covenant—a lifelong partnership—between a man and a woman. It is a union that reflects God's love and is intended to nurture the well-being of the spouses and to foster the procreation and upbringing of children. When entered into by two baptized individuals, marriage becomes a sacrament, a visible sign of God's grace at work in their lives. (CCC 1601)

In the Catholic Church, marriage takes place in the presence of the faith community because it is not just a contractual agreement, but a sacrament—a living embodiment of Christ's love for His Church. The Church sees marriage as a path to holiness, where spouses walk together toward heaven, helping each other grow in love, virtue, and faith. A key purpose of marriage is to support each other in becoming more like the saints: generous, kind, and focused on God’s will.

At St. Anthony Church, we joyfully celebrate this sacred commitment and ask that you notify the Parish at least 6 months in advance of your wedding. This allows us to guide you through the necessary steps and ensure a meaningful preparation for your marriage. We follow the Archdiocesan procedures to ensure that your marriage is rooted in the faith.
